Located within the Scottish Borders is the small picturesque town of Melrose, home to approximately 2,500 people.
Melrose Abbey was the first of its kind in the country, and became the mother church of the order in Scotland. The Commendator's House Museum claims to have the biggest collection of medieval artefacts on display anywhere in Scotland. Among the abbey's most interesting aspects is its collection of sculptures, including carved angels, saints, demons, and even a bagpipe-playing pig.
