The Hulu series “Pam & Tommy” purports to tell a love story, but it tracks as an awkward mea culpa from Hollywood—and as a belated bid to get on the right side of pop-culture history.

He’s an accidental inventor; the show does not even need to mention Kardashianism.
By the second episode, we’ve been jerked away from Gauthier’s perspective to that of Anderson and Lee, months prior, strangers who become immediately and intensely enamored with each other. The night they meet, Lee spots Anderson at a club and licks her cheek, an expression of his giddy attraction; some ninety hours later, the two are married on a white-sand beach in Mexico.
