He has some immense gifts that make him novel and interesting as a player, and he’s worth tracking, especially now that he’s committed to Kentucky. But his fundamentals are all over the map. He’s not nearly as good of a defender as his block rate would indicate. He’s horrible in ball screens mechanically, and his foul rate is gargantuan.
Offensively, he can shoot at a real clip and has open-floor ballhandling ability, but it doesn’t really translate to half-court settings yet.Was he a true second-rounder in terms of ability versus drawbacks, or was he a second-rounder because teams didn’t know if he’d come over? Why did he withdraw?I would have had a late stash/undrafted grade on him this year because of how far away he is on defense.
