GenV, the new TheBoys spinoff show, has yet to release season 1 - but PrimeVideo is reportedly already looking to reconvene the writers room to start work on season 2 😮🙌
While Gen V season 1 is still yet to receive an official release date, Prime Video’s upcoming spinoff of The Boys gets a promising update regarding a possible season 2 renewal. First announced in 2020, Gen V will serve to further expand Amazon’s corrupt superhero-laden world first explored in Eric Kripke’s adaptation of the comic books created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While filming on Gen V season 1 officially wrapped in September last year, Prime Video has not yet revealed when fans can expect to see the new spinoff arrive via their streaming platform. Nonetheless, reports indicate that Amazon is happy with the new show and is already eyeing a potential season 2 renewal. According to Deadline, the streamer is currently looking to reopen the writers’ room to allow work to begin on a new season.
Gen V, of course, is not the first time Prime Video has dabbled in attempting to build on the popularity of The Boys. In 2022, the streamer released The Boys Presents: Diabolical, an animated anthology series consisting of eight standalone episodes. Similarly praised by both fans and critics alike, The Boys Presents: Diabolical even managed to earn a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.
Amazon’s Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, has already praised the new spinoff, teasing multiple connections to the main series and plenty of gore. With the news of the streamer reportedly already looking at getting to work on season 2, the streamer's confidence in the quality of the finished product seems clear.
