Elm Cos. plans to open the new home office for its microgrid and solar divisions later this year.
“Global interest and demand for renewable energy solutions have positioned Elm Cos. for significant growth,” chairman and founder Lee C. Graves said in a statement. “This expansion in Texas will allow us to meet the needs of our current and future clients for years to come.”Elm’s microgrid division provides systems to capture and store energy for use in commercial and industrial applications. The firm’s clients include utility companies, the U.S. military and large enterprises.
“The work of Elm’s engineers and technicians are vital to energy resilience and cost savings for operations across multiple applications,” The Colony Mayor Richard Boyer said in a statement. “We are very proud to welcome them to The Colony, and we look forward to their future expansion and ongoing innovation.”
With the opening of The Colony production facility, Elm will have about 200,000 square feet of production operations in Texas and Oklahoma. Elm was founded in Peoria, Ill., in 1991 to provide underground locating services to utilities. The company has grown to over 1,000 employees with offices in 18 states.
