The royal family maneuvered behind the scenes to ensure that Camilla married Parker-Bowles and Charles, of course, went on to marry Diana.
Princess Anne's quote in the episode seemed to be inspired from a bombshell TV interview Diana gave in 1995 in which she openly discussed her husband's affair. "Do you think Mrs. Parker-Bowles was a factor in the breakdown of your marriage?" journalist Martin Bashir asked. "Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded," Diana replied.
