Millions of pensioners will no longer be eligible
Rachel Reeves has announced that winter fuel payments will no longer be paid to millions of pensioners.
READ MORE: Full list of DWP benefits that will no longer receive Winter Fuel Payment worth up to £600 Ms Reeves said the government would do this by bringing forward changes so that pensioners receiving housing benefit will also receive any pension credit that they are entitled to. She also promised to work with charities and councils to raise awareness of it.
Savings and investments worth £10,000 or less and investments do not affect their pension credit. Those with more than £10,000 could still be eligible but their income calculation would be affected with every £500 over £10,000 counting as £1 income a week.
