A week after coming to the platform, Samba TV has revealed the viewership numbers for The Flash's streaming premiere on Max. The post, as seen above, reveals that the Ezra Miller-led movie debuted on the streamer to just 1.1 million US household viewers over its opening weekend, coming in just below Black Adam's premiere of 1.2 million viewers in the same demographic. The Flash also nearly set a new DC streaming low overall, largely eclipsing that of Shazam! Fury of the Gods' 260 thousand viewers, but still becoming the second-lowest for the franchise, continuing the flop streak for the title.
The Flash's DC Future Looks Even Grimmer Development on a Flash sequel was reported in late 2022 when David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the scribe behind both Aquaman movies, was said to have already been hired to write the script with Michael Keaton's Batman and Sasha Calle's Supergirl involved, though Miller's ties unknown due to their controversies.
The only potential saving grace for Miller's chance to return is Gunn's own investment in the character and the storylines established in The Flash. The identity of Barry's mother's killer remains unknown while the eponymous hero is now in a timeline in which George Clooney is back as Bruce Wayne.
