Played by Batwoman star Javicia Leslie, the photo was shared during Nicolet's Instagram takeover ahead of The Flash season 9 premiere. In the comics, Red Death is an alternate version of Bruce Wayne, who has gone down a bad path on his Earth. After absorbing Barry Allen and the Speed Force, Batman becomes the Red Death, who kills his enemies in order to rid the world of criminals. Whether or not the Arrowverse iteration of Red Death will have a similar backstory remains to be seen. All that is known is that this Red Death is a different version of Ryan Wilder.
While The Flash season 9 has Red Death as one of the threats, the back of the season will also deal with one final adversary. Even though their identity has yet to be revealed, the blue crystal will still come into play and somehow connect with the new avatar of the Negative Speed Force. Whether or not that will get teased in the first arc of the final season remains to be seen.
