It has been a turbulent time in the Helldivers 2 community over the past few days after Sony announced that players will need to connect a PSN account to Steam. This led to a lot of backlash from the community, which resulted in Helldivers 2 becoming the most negatively reviewed paid game in Steam history. Sony backtracked earlier today and announced that players will no longer be required to link a PSN account, which is great news for the community.
The PlayStation US guys have probably been trying to get ahold of their JP contacts all weekend in a panic to get this reversed. Sony’s long-term plan heavily includes expanding into the PC space and this was NOT good for that big picture.” It will be interesting to see whether this backlash affects Sony’s plans for breaking into the PC market.
