Which? readers were asked to rate inland towns and villages across the UK for their peace and quiet, scenery, food and drink and more and one of the top Scottish entries lies not far from Glasgow.
Fancy a wee afternoon away while the weather is good? Well, according to a new poll by a top consumer mag, one of the best places to go in the UK is just over 90 mins from Glasgow and well worth the trip.
Posting about the staycation destination poll, the Which? team said: "More than 9,000 Which? members rated the inland towns and villages they'd visited, with the top spots going to Wells in Somerset and Avebury in Wiltshire. "With their historic buildings, rural charm and quirky, independent spirit, the highest-rated towns are worth a visit any time of the year."
