TheImmaculateRoom Review: Disturbing Drama Lacks Imagination & Substance
In the opening sequence of director Mukunda Michael Dewil’s disturbing psychological drama/thriller, The Immaculate Room, Mike and Kate walk into a brightly lit, spacious room to claim five million dollars. If they can last 50 days in this pristine room completely isolated from society with no phones, family, or activities to keep themselves entertained, their worlds will be turned upside down.
For Bosworth's character, even less is revealed over the course of the 50-day challenge. In due time, viewers will come to understand that Kate suffers from abandonment issues, but even then, it feels forced due to her dynamic with Mike. While it’s not easy to determine who Kate and Mike are as individuals with the information given, it’s an even bigger ask to ascertain their relationship.
