I was in college at the University of Minnesota when I saw this new Mazda in Road & Track magazine, in the May 1978 issue. I went to a Mazda dealership and asked the sales manager if I could buy one. He said, “We have 13 coming in and 11 are spoken for.” I think I wrote a bad check for a down payment. To my knowledge, my RX-7 was among the first to reach the Twin Cities.
