In the last 100 years, and to an ever-increasing degree since the dawn of the information age, our answers to those questions have been informed by statistics supplied by government.It is hard to overstate the importance of getting our facts straight concerning statistical measures of well-being.

The book looks in detail at the so-called “Super Rich.

We also find that the argument that we could fund vast expansions in government benefits by simply taxing high wage-earners more heavily does not hold up when you look at the facts. If we took every penny of after-tax income from the so-called Super Rich, we couldn’t fund our current government for a week. If we took every penny of after-tax income of the top 1/10th of 1% of earners, we couldn’t fund government for a month.
