The bright, color-blocked tops have become the waist-up Zoom style during COVID-19.
Patchwork has long been a trend on the runways, but generally the vibe is more pastoral. However, the trend has warped, literally, into a breakout trend for this Zoom-ified, waist-up version of summer. Images of these shirts pop up on Instagram explore pages, rearing their shockingly vibrant threads and racking up thousands of likes and inquiries of orders. The colors range from electrified hues of blue and pink to soft Easter-egg shades of green and yellow.
This past week, I have seen the tops almost explode on my feed. Lourdes Leon posed for a casual fitting photo in a look by aby Maayan Sherris. Leon’s top was modest with chunky stripes in shades of green. The response has been stellar and Sherris will soon be shifting the designs into cashmere this coming season. Another standout in my feed was Mata Complex, a label by Ellie Reeves.
