Network North will reinvest HS2 funding into roads like the A509 Isham Bypass and the A43 Northampton-Kettering
The Prime Minister has said he will “reinvest every penny” from the failed HS2 project with Northamptonshire seeing promises of funding.
Funding will be allocated for smaller road schemes across the Midlands, providing more than £250 million to ensure the delivery of 10 roads. Two of Northamptonshire’s roads are included on the list, such as the A509 Isham Bypass and the A43 Northampton-Kettering.Thirteen local authorities in the Midlands will also see an “unprecedented” uplift in funding. Network North pledges to deliver long-term settlements for councils including West Northamptonshire.
Sunak said that by delivering the first phase of HS2 between London and the West Midlands as planned, it will enable the government to address bottlenecks on the existing line. Northampton is one of the places said to benefit from new services, reduced journey times and reduced crowding on route.
