Adding a third door to their upscale enclave on a block in Montrose, siblings Mario Tort and Vanessa Tort Pagel — who also own Estilo Salon & Spa — have opened Estilo Home. With concrete floors layered in natural rugs, the shop is home to an enviable mix of airy caftans, fresh flowers displayed in primitive vases, oversized jute market totes, earthen bowls, European bath products and other beautiful objects.
You opened your salon in 2010, with the upscale spa following a few years later. Why did you decide to expand with a lifestyle boutique?This is really Mario’s dream. My brother’s first passion has always been in anything aesthetics. He’s always had that artistry background and that eye to detail. I remember being a kid, he’d rearrange his room every so often, when he was super young, like 10. He does all the sourcing, he’s the eye, he seeks out everything you see here.
My love for our equipale chairs comes from the process of building them. … Traditionally, the chairs come in tan or brown pigskin leather. We customized ours to offer them in white, giving it a very chic look with the contrasting natural cedar wood.I found these amazing Bacanha raw syrups while vacationing in France. I visited a small coffee and pastry shop in Saint-Germain in Paris and fell in love. The aromas are captivating.
