It offers 'amazing scenery' and is easily reached from Greater Manchester
May’s first bank holiday weekend is upon us and we’ve been spoiled so far with decent weather, looking ahead it's set to continue for bank holiday Monday. With that in mind it’s a good idea to make the most of it with a beautiful walk in the countryside.
The list, compiled by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, looked at walks across the country which are the easiest to travel to by cars with parking spots. There is a National Trust car park at Mam Tor, called Mam Nick which is free for National Trust members, although non-members will need to pay.Researchers said: “A popular hike in the Peak District is the Mam Tor circular walk. The 5.2 mile walk shares amazing scenery and with 517m of elevation it’s suitable for families and even dogs.
Coming in third place is another Welsh walk. The Pyg Track in Snowdonia ranked third thanks to its “panoramic views, and plenty of facilities including cafes and public toilets.”
