A new TheWitcherBloodOrigin clip has arrived, revealing a terrifying new creature set to appear in the Netflix prequel show.

A newly released The Witcher: Blood Origin video introduces a frightening new monster to the fantasy adventure franchise. Set to release on Netflix on Christmas day, the upcoming limited series is a prequel to The Witcher, a popular television show based on a series of fantasy novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With just over a week remaining until its premiere, a new The Witcher: Blood Origin clip introduces a terrifying new creature to the franchise's vast bestiary. The video features the former Raven Clan Queen's guard Éile admiring a glowing flower protruding from a pond in a marsh. However, it is soon revealed that the flower is actually a lure belonging to a giant creature that looks like a cross between an anglerfish and centipede.

The Witcher writer, Declan de Barra, created the series along with The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The prequel series is set within the Golden Era of elves, approximately 1,200 years prior to the events of the original show. This time period shows the height of the elven civilizations before their violent conflicts with humans and their drastic decline.

Although the prequel series takes place over a millennia before the events of The Witcher, the show's latest trailer depicts the bard Jaskier arriving into the time period through the use of magic performed by the mysterious mage Seanchai . Although no details have been given as to why the musician was summoned, his return likely has to do with the greater narrative arc of the original series, perhaps serving as a witness to past events to inform pivotal decisions in the future.
