Poppy O'Toole has become known as the 'Potato Queen' because she is a pro at cooking spuds – and the This Morning chef recently shared her advice for super creamy mash
The 30-year-old, from Birmingham, is Michelin-trained and regularly shares her cooking tips on popular ITV show This Morning. She's also garnered more than 4.4million followers on TikTok by sharing tricks related to tatties.
It doesn't require much extra effort – and you'll only need two more basic ingredients. While many add milk into their spuds before mashing them, Poppy advises against this. Lumpy mash is a turn off for many – so Poppy provided a tip to avoid this too. She explained: "My method is to make sure you cut your potatoes into 1.5cm rounds, not cubes, all the same. Then the water can penetrate and cook quickly all the way through.
"Also, a potato ricer is a handy gadget, especially if you like making mash. It's like a cheese grater for potatoes and it comes out nice and smooth."
