Travel & Leisure named Cape May, New Jersey one of the best beaches in the United States.Beach season is well underway, and you’re probably wondering what is the best beach to go to down the shore.
The list of possibilities in New Jersey are endless. But if you’re looking for a beach that is nationally ranked, there is only one New Jersey beach that made the cut., Cape May, New Jersey, at the southern tip of the state was ranked as one of the 17 “best” beach towns to visit in the U.S. Now, you’re probably thinking, why didn’t Ocean City, Point Pleasant or Asbury Park make the cut, as well?Travel & Leisure was targeting this list to “beach lovers who prefer quaint cottages, custard stands and historic wharves over beachfront go-karts and megaresorts.”
Some of the other beach destinations on the list included Block Island, Rhode Island; Carmel-by-the-Sea, California; Provincetown, Massachusetts; and St. Augustine, Florida. Although no other New Jersey destinations made the exclusive list, it is an honor that Cape May was recognized nationally.
