As he walks through a hallway on a cold November afternoon between classes, smiling students jump at the chance to engage with him. The good vibes are contagious.
“We wanted to ensure that kids really felt welcome, loved at the school and cared for,” Arencibia told us. “When they feel that way, they are able to open up for their education so much more.” . He was also named Texas Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals in 2022, but his achievements have been racking up for several years.“I look for strengths; I like to know what makes people tick and what motivates them,” he said. “When I know what their passion is, I put them in situations within their passions.”by Jon Gordon.
