A brand of smoked salmon is being recalled in 10 states due to the potential presence of listeria, a harmful bacteria, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
According to the recall notice, the Washington State Department of Agriculture discovered the harmful bacteria during routine testing.
St. James distributed the affected products between February and June 2022 and sold them at stores in 10 states, including New Jersey. The recall is for products with lot number 123172 and the UPC code 060022710356. No other products were affected, according to the company. The following states affected by the recall include Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Washington State, Virginia and Wisconsin as well as Safeway Washington State stores.The FDA urges that shoppers who purchased the smoked salmon discard it immediately or return it to the store for a full refund.
