A Monte Vista home once used as the president's residence for San Antonio College has hit the market for just shy of $1 million, according to a sales listing.
The five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath Spanish Revival-style house served as the residence of Wayland P. Moody, who oversaw the community college from 1956 until 1973, according to newspaper reports. He was only the second president to lead the school. SAC's trustees reportedly put the home on the market some time after Moody's retirement once they realized the outlay of cash needed to restore it for use by future presidents.
From the sales listing, it's easy to see how that upkeep would get pricy. The 1908 property includes coffered ceilings with plenty of intricate molding, and handcrafted architectural details such as built-in cabinets and a carved stair railings run throughout. There's also a rare-for-San Antonio basement, which the listing notes has"endless possibilities" as a possible man-cave, gym or wine cellar.
