This startup just raised $8 million to connect people to virtual support groups:
Before Irad Eichler lost his mother to cancer, he would come to visit her. He noticed that she seemed to feel the most “alive and happy” when she would have conversations with someone who shared her experience of having cancer. Eichler noticed a difference between the conversation he would share with his mother compared to the one with her friend. And that difference was being able to find support with a fellow cancer patient.
The purpose of putting people in groups, says Eichler, is to allow them to share their stories and converse with each other to provide emotional support and connection. “Each one of us are going through some kind of emotional challenge, so I urge people to speak with people that are going through the same life challenges,” Eichler said. “You need to speak and meet people that are going through the same life challenges. That will bring relief - guaranteed.
