Simon Daniels died in Dovestone Reservoir
Thousands have pounds have been raised for the family of a paddleboarder whose body was recovered from Dovestone Reservoir. Tributes are being paid to Simon Daniels, who got into difficulty in the Oldham reservoir on Sunday .
In a tribute posted on the GoFundMe page, they explained how 'if you knew our boy you would instantly have fell in love with him'. The tribute said: "Simon was a friend to everyone."Nobody was a stranger in his eyes. His passions were fitness and the gym. Helping others to become the best version of themselves.
"He loved love and he loved life and even at the darkest of times he still managed to light up the room. As his friends we are living a nightmare but for his family we cannot even begin to imagine how they are processing and deal with the tragic event of loosing the most loved man we have ever known."
A major search operation began after Simon and a woman got into difficulty on Dovestone Reservoir. Water search teams, fire crews and police descended on the scene. The woman was rescued on Sunday afternoon and treated for hypothermia and shock.
