Gillian Wilson, 43, has been left heartbroken from the loss of her three rescue dogs, Bailey, Alfie and Max.
A woman has been left devastated after three of her dogs were tragically killed in a horrendous house fire while she was on holiday. Gillian Wilson had been visiting Benidorm with friends when the blaze tore through her father's home in the Penilee area of Glasgow at 4.48pm on Friday, August 11.
After being located by firefighters, Bailey, a 15-year-old Cocker Spaniel, tragically died at the scene, while nine-year-old Cocker Spaniel Max, and Alfie, a four-year-old Bichon Frisé cross, were taken to a nearby pet hospital, where they were sadly pronounced dead two days later. Gillian has thanked firefighters and her father's neighbours who tried to revive the dogs before they were whisked to the pet hospital. She said: "All of my dogs were rescue dogs, so they all had their own quirks about what they did when they were scared. My oldest dog, Bailey, who died at the scene was found in the bath, which is where he goes to when he is frightened.
While the family mourn the loss of their beloved pets, Robert - who has been left with burns on his face, ankles and ears - has had to temporarily move in with his daughter until his house can be repaired. "Everywhere else is really badly smoke damaged and his front door has been left melted from the inside and outside. Thankfully his home insurance will cover the damages, but it's going to take months."
