The incident happened outside Hoeksema's Mini-Mart Beer & Liquor, at Lewis Avenue and Wadsworth Road.
Lake County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the business parking lot around 1:15 p.m., according to a news release.
A preliminary investigation found the three victims met the shooting suspect in the parking lot of the business. They spoke for a period of time and an argument"erupted," police said. The victims then fled from the scene in their vehicle just before deputies arrived about a mile away.
