Ah, the good old days 🕺
Over the past couple of months, we've been reflecting on nights out formerly enjoyed by the people ofFrom the beloved venues to the sets of the resident DJs who played at them, no era ofcan compare to that of the 90s and early 00s. Those whose dancing days fell during that time lucked out: nights out were significantly cheaper, the dance music was better and social media was not yet a thing.
That era of clubbing holds even more significance for those who experienced it in Northern Ireland - or even near the border. Through 90s rave culture, people of all backgrounds were brought together simply because they were young and wanted to enjoy themselves.In ways sectarianism may have prevented previous generations from doing before, rave culture allowed the youth of the time the chance to focus on their similarities rather than differences.
We went on the hunt for more old nightlife pics at the venues the people of Northern Ireland loved in the 90s and 00s - be they within or just beyond the border. With a bit of digging around and some great contributions sent in by Belfast Live readers, we were able to put together another gallery. Take a look below.

Golden Globes Are Back on TV, But Are Reform Efforts Enough?A year after their mighty fall, the battered, 80-year-old Golden Globes are back on NBC. After dumping the telecast last year, the network decided to go ahead Tuesday under a limited, one-year broadcast deal. The Globes promise to be starry once again after the embattled Hollywood Foreign Press Association spent months working on reforms aimed at eliminating the taint of sexism, lack of diversity and ethical and financial lapses among its members. Some powerful stakeholders are on board with progress so far. But they acknowledge more must be done. The Globes air Tuesday on NBC at 8 p.m. Eastern.
