The city's Sheriff Court heard Murray was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 207 doing a three-point turn.
Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said:"Murray mounted the pavement as Mr McLelland and another man were walking.CCTV was later used to trace the incident.The charge states Murray"shouted and uttered abusive remarks towards him". Police were contacted and officers found the victim on the ground with a bleeding head wound and a towel on it.He was seen brandishing an item which was later recovered to be half of a garden sheer.Mr McLelland was taken to hospital meantime where he was found to have scrapes to his body and a bruise to his back.Murray pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr McLelland to his permanent disfigurement and danger of his life.
He also admitted having a bladed garden shear in public without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority. His lawyer told the court that there had been a fight involving Murray, his brothers and Mr McLelland earlier that day.Sentence was deferred pending background reports by Sheriff Iain Fleming.
