“I’m in fear they will be back. I work here, I live here, this is my livelihood': Thug threw spanner at police car which was chasing his gang after trying to steal parking meter
A group of men tried and failed to nick a parking meter from outside a Salford pub, before one of them chucked weapons at a police car that started chasing them.
During the pursuit, the Volvo crashed into some bollards and a bin. The driver, who the prosecution allege is Kasier Ahmed, 30, of Bankhouse Road, Manchester, then drove the car into a pedestrianised area, before reversing into the police car. A helicopter and police dogs were used to help track the other men down and they were also arrested. Officers also found tools and weapons in the car such as knives and bolt clippers.
