Prepare for thunderstorms on the ‘hottest weekend of the year so far’, millions of people in England and Wales are told
The UK's weather service issued the warning on Thursday ahead of what is expected to be the warmest weekend of the year, with central and southern England, and the whole of Wales, set for rain and thunder on Saturday.
Oli Clayden, from the Met Office, confirmed that there could be some travel disruption over the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to increase steadily heading into the weekend, with Saturday expected to see temperatures rise to as high as 30C in southern parts of England before they slowly decrease in the days that follow.
