Tiani utilizes empirical research and first-person narratives to understand the psychological consequences of racial discrimination and media use among emerging adults. One main area of her research examines the consequences of racial discrimination for racial minority undergraduate students.
Another area of research considers how mainstream media and racial stereotypes impact racial minority women.Dr. Marsheena Murray describes the methods clinicians must utilize to address the individual and systemic barriers that contribute to foster youths' physical and mental well-being.Black women may feel discouraged from expressing their sexual needs due to controlling stereotypes of superhuman strength and expectations to cater to others' needs.
