Perhaps most impressively, he ranks 12th in driving distance among all players for the week, averaging 303 yards off the tee.At 3-under, Woods is too far out of contention to make a play for the top of the leaderboard, but is only three shots back from those in a five-way tie for 10th place at 6-under. Another solid showing on Sunday and he could maybe reasonably climb up to post a top-10 finish, which would be a major success by all imaginable measures.
The week feels like a success as it is. Despite the long layoff from competitive play, Woods currently sits ahead of the likes of Tony Finau, Sungjae Im and Xander Schauffele.
