Tiger Woods misses cut at PGA Championship after awful second round

Bethpage Black’s lush rough had a tiger’s bite as Woods struggled from start to finish en route to a lackluster 3-over 73 in the second round of the 101st PGA Championship. Woods walked off the course at 5-over and T83, one shot outside the projected cut of 4-over. The PGA Tour announced Woods had officially missed the cut around 7 p.m. ET.
The troubles began for Woods off the bat once again with a shank off the first tee. He was able to scramble for par before bogeying the second hole. The opening stretch of holes at “The People’s Country Club” on Long Island are by far the easiest, and Woods played them 1-over. Woods started his Thursday round on No. 10 with a double bogey and followed suit with a bogey on Friday. That trend continued with bogeys on the next two holes. A birdie on the par-5 13th briefly made it look like Woods was primed to make a run for the weekend, until he re-boarded the bogey train on No. 14 thanks to three putts from 55 feet.
