Parker said he is running because he believes his district deserves the best.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Nonpartisan candidate Tim Parker is running for district 35 in the Alaska House of Representatives.

He said he is running because he believes his district deserves the best. “I believe that we really need to focus on our children and their education as well as our community basics like police, fire, all those little pieces that we need, roads, that do the things that we need. We also have to keep our focus on our government, our local government, and that starts with a strong, healthy economy.”

Parker was a high school English teacher for more than 20 years and served as the president of the National Education Association in Alaska, the statewide teacher’s union. “I’m driven by student learning. I have been for the entire time I’ve been a teacher, and I want to bring that same passion to what I’m going to do as the representative for House district 35 if elected. I want to make sure that I listen to everyone.

He wants to help create a strong economy in Fairbanks. Parker said, “This is the one thing that is the foundation of our community. It’s what all of us need in order to live here and have a good life. It’s what attracts young people to our community, makes them want to live here and be able to survive in our town.

Parker is running against Ashley Carrick, Kevin McKinley, Ruben McNeill, Jr. and Kieran Brown in the primary election on August 16.
