A recreational marijuana dispensary was approved for this former barbecue restaurant at 16200 S. Harlem Ave., Tinley Park. The company’s plans call for the Tinley Park location to operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon until 6 p.m. on Sundays. In early January of this year, Ascend said it had completed a previously announced acquisition of Chicago Alternative Health Center Holdings, which operated Midway dispensaries on Chicago’s Southwest Side as well as in Chicago Ridge, 9820 S. Ridgeland Ave., near Chicago Ridge Mall.Cannabis sales statewide last year, including recreational and medical, were nearly $1.
Questions raised by planners included whether there might be lines of customers outside the dispensary doors, and security measures such as when cannabis deliveries are made. Ascend, in documents provided to Tinley Park, noted that “cannabis odor emanating from our facility is a valid concern for the community and our neighbors,” and that it plans to take measures to seal the building and install a ventilation system that will disperse any possible odors.
