A lifelong Blackpool FC fan who died after suffering head injuries outside a pub has been remembered as a "very much loved dad, son, brother, uncle and Gramps".
Officers had been in the area following the Blackpool v Burnley football match and arrived to find the 55-year-old having suffered a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital but did not survive his injuries.His partner today paid an emotional tribute to the man she described as her best friend and soul mate. She said: "I am devastated to have lost my best friend, life partner and soul mate in a cruel act.
“Thank you for everyone for reaching out but please could you respect our privacy at this difficult time. He will be one missed gentleman and the party will live on through us all, just as he would've wanted. Rest in peace my darling, tangerine dreams forever." Police are continuing to work with both Blackpool and Burnley football clubs to establish who else may have been involved and what exactly occurred. DCI Tracey McMurdo, of Lancashire Police, said: “Mr Johnson’s family are devastated by their loss and we are supporting them at this incredibly difficult time.
