Fans are flocking to 'Hadestown,' challenging what is expected of a Broadway hit
By conventional Broadway measures, “Hadestown” might not have the makings of a hit show. A jazz-inflected musical based on a Greek mythological tale of a trip to the underworld, it lacks the kind of instant selling points as other shows, such as a story drawn from a popular movie or a score of jukebox favorites.
