In Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 4, episode 15, "Sons of Mogh," Kurn arrived on Deep Space Nine in dishonor, drunk, and extremely depressed.
As Jake approaches old age, he chooses to end his life when his father visits again, believing this will reset the timeline. Still the same age as he was when the accident occurred, Benjamin tearfully holds Jake as he dies, in what remains one of Star Trek's most heartbreaking scenes. After the elderly Jake dies, time resets to the moment just before the original accident, and Captain Sisko avoids the energy discharge.
