JUST IN: A small tornado briefly touched down near the town of Keenesburg this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. COwx
A “brief landspout/weak tornado” developed in the area but dissipated. Another tornado may develop, the weather service warned.
More landspouts are possible across a large swath of the western Denver metro area, including Aurora and Denver International Airport., form from the ground up instead of stretching from the clouds to the ground. Landspouts are capable of producing damaging high winds. The weather service issued a warning effective until 4 p.m. about the possibility of landspouts and hail in the region and advised people to seek shelter.
A special weather statement has been issued for Aurora CO and Denver Intl Airport CO until 4:00 PM MDT
