The most recent outing in either movie franchise was Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which premiered on June 9, and has become the eighth highest-grossing movie of the year with a worldwide box office total of $427.5 million.
It's a good question. We were about to start a script when the writers’ strike happened. So, our hope was we were going to have it for 2025, but I think the longer the strike goes on, the more it puts it in 2026. Transformers and G.I. Joe Already Have a Lot of Competition in 2026 As the strikes rage on, it seems more and more likely that the movie will end up being released in 2026. Even though it's a follow-up to a financial success, the movie will be facing stiff competition that year. While not too many movies have been scheduled that far in advance, the ones that already have could very well be smash hits.
The roster for 2026, pending any additional delays or rescheduling, already includes Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the first of two Avengers crossover movies in Marvel's Multiverse Saga. Also potentially on the docket is Taika Waititi's Star Wars movie, though that date is subject to change as development updates on that project have been murky.
It remains to be seen if the Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie proves to be a substantial hit. It could certainly be battered by the competition. However, it also needs to weather audience disinterest in the most recent Joe outing, the Henry Golding vehicle Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, which flopped at the box office in 2021, making back less than half its budget.
