A preview of the upcoming Transformers #3 from Skybound Entertainment shows how humans and Autobots are having a tough time getting along.

Transformers #3 arrives this December from writer and artist Daniel Warren Johnson, along with colorist Mike Spicer and letterer Rus Wooton. It follows on the heels of issue #2 when a human girl named Carly runs home during a preemptive Decepticon strike rather than going with the Autobots whom she's just met. Instead of meeting her dad, a close friend named Mr. Witwicky informs Carly that her father has been killed.
Now in Transformers #3, a Decepticon trailing Carly violently attacks her and Mr. Witwicky, destroying the house in the process, before Autobot Cliffjumper arrives just in time to save them. But because Mr. Witwicky isn't aware that there are good Transformers, he quickly puts a rifle at Cliffjumper's head.
These preview pages alone further underscore key moments from Transformers #2 that subvert expectations fans might have about the new series taking place in G1. The term "G1" is used to refer to the original Transformers toy line and cartoon that launched in 1984. Unlike the original cartoon, Daniel Warren Johnson's Transformers capitalizes on the frailty of humans in relation to the gigantic robots by allowing them to be brutally murdered and even harassed by Decepticons.
Transformers #3 will be the latest installment of Skybound Entertainment's new Energon Universe continuity that's published by Image Comics. Launching with the series Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici, the Energon Universe is a shared continuity that includes both the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises. News of the shared universe has received a lot of attention from fans of both properties.
