Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Liverpool must decide whether to cash in on Trent Alexander-Arnold before the 30 August transfer deadline., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed £25-30million would be a fair valuation for the 25-year-old, who can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January.
Alexander-Arnold is yet to sign a new deal at Liverpool and has less than 12 months to run on his current deal at Anfield. He was a crucial player for Jurgen Klopp’s side last term, notching three goals and nine assists in 39 appearances.Wyness claimed it could be worth “taking the hit” for Liverpool and allowing him to run down his deal – but admitted his personal opinion is that the right-back will leave Merseyside this summer.

“It’s a very interesting way to look at it. If they challenge for the league or get into the Champions League, it could be sustainable.”
