Residents have paid tribute to a woman who was found dead in a home in the Harehills area earlier this week
The woman, named locally as Sam Varley, was found in a house in on Brownhill Terrace, Harehills on Monday, February 12, after police broke down the door following reports of concern for her safety. Today, they named their key suspect as Warren Spence, 54, and have urged the public to call 999 if they see him.
Residents living in an adjoining street have spoken of their fears and worries surrounding the woman's tragic death. A nearby resident who wished to remain anonymous said she knew the woman in passing, and felt 'daunted' over her untimely death, having only spoken to her the other week. Dawn Hudson, who also lives nearby, has said she finds the whole situation 'frightening' due to the lack of clarity surrounding the case. Dawn said: "It's frightening because we don't know what happened. No one is telling us anything. "We just don't know. Nobody seems to know anything."
Paola Asis, 28, said: "Right now I am a bit concerned and it depends on the resolution, how I will feel. It is sad and worrying. I didn't know the woman but it's another human being's life lost."
