Andrew James Wood 'loved his job as a teacher and enjoyed passing on knowledge and seeing young people develop'
Andrew James Wood passed away at his home in Rawtenstall from oesophageal cancer at the age of 66. He was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer five years ago and had surgery.
“He loved his job as a teacher and enjoyed passing on knowledge and seeing young people develop. He was really proud of his job and his pupils. He bumped into his former pupils in Rossendale and Manchester and they have such a warmth for Andy. He spent more than 30 years teaching French and German at St Damian’s high school in Tameside and then did supply work at All Saints’ school in Rawtenstall where he also taught some Spanish.
They played on the same team. The inseparable couple tied the knot in 1987 at United Reformed Church in Radcliffe where Judith would attend in her youth.
