Tropical Storm Ophelia could bring up to 4 inches of rain to the Jersey Shore and wind gusts up to 60 mph.
The top wind gust reported so far is 51 mph in Seaside Heights, followed by 50 mph in Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island at 50 mph at the Atlantic City Marina, according to theThose gusts are expected to get stronger later this morning and afternoon before diminishing this evening.
South Jersey has the best shot to get heavy rain later in the day with precipitation in north and Central Jersey expected to lighten. Rain and wind will continue Sundayl, but the winds won’t be hazardous except along the immediate coast. There could even be breaks in the rain during the day as highs top out in the 60s. Atlantic and Cape May counties should reach the low 70s Sunday.
