Trojans improve to 3-2 this season
Troy forced two turnovers in the red zone, including O’Shai Fletcher’s interception at the Trojans’ 3 on the first series of the game. Troy held Georgia State — which came in averaging 37 points per game — to 298 total yards and just one touchdown.
Caleb Ransaw picked off Grainger on the next series, but Renfroe missed a 42-yard field goal to keep it a 6-point game. After the Trojans forced a punt, they got into the end zone again when Gunnar Watson threw 14 yards to running back Kimani Vidal for a touchdown. Vidal, an Atlanta-area native, rushed for 76 yards on 23 carries. Watson passed for 256 yards, 121 of that on seven completions to Jabre Barber.
