He first heard about the pop star when he released his “Youth” music video in 2015. “From the get-go, you were yourself,” Staley said. “The boy bands and pop stars who came all the years earlier, they wouldn’t start out.” The pair also discussed Sivan’s coming-out video on YouTube in 2013, and how it signified a moment of gay liberation for him.
