Former President Donald Trump downplays LIV uproar: 'I don't know much about the 9/11 families'
Families of the victims have criticized LIV for accepting money from Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund because they believe the oil-rich nation had ties to the attackers. However, Trump has been unrelenting in the face of such criticism about his decision to host the tournament at his golf resort, located an hour away from ground zero.
“I can say that from the standpoint of Khashoggi, that has died down so much,” Trump said. “It really seems to have totally died down." “I think LIV has been a great thing for Saudi Arabia, for the image of Saudi Arabia,” Trump, who is slated to host two of LIV's eight events for the year, added. “I think it’s going to be an incredible investment from that standpoint, and that’s more valuable than lots of other things because you can’t buy that — even with billions of dollars.”
